The weight of a 90-minute mass prayer

           - Manju Unnikrishnan

Translation - Sudhakaran P Purayath

""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

God,
I heard that
You are a great footballer.
At some point of time
You come into sight,
on the leg of a player.
With the nutmeg trick
You shoot it forward.
The prayer of the first team…
The prayer of the second team…
But, you don’t take into account
the weight of the prayer.

That’s why,
in the last moment
The ball is shot
in the bicycle kick style,
Scoring the goal
like a shooting star.
And you vanish into thin air
while the net shakes.

(You are with the football
that is fed up of all the pounding.
After all you heard
The mass prayer of kissing the net!)
