Poem - Dona Mayoora

Poem - Dona Mayoora

Ninth Heaven - Dona Mayoora

Translation - Ravi Shanker N

Meanwhile,
(don’t ask me how-
only we should know it was
when remembering you
and loving you)
Ants came.

From the words I had lined up
To speak to you,
One word fell in their midst.

The Ants read it and
Made their way back.

Meanwhile,
(you will again ask how
and I will pretend not to have heard
as innocently as if
I didn’t know a thing)
The Ants came again.

From the word
that fell in their midst before,
Edged a syllable with my foot
In their way.

They read the syllable
Looked at us, raising their heads,
And made their way back.

Meanwhile,
(I will nip your lips like an ant
before you asked how)
The Ant came again.

We had no syllables left.
And,
We were in the Ninth Heaven
Sans bodies.
